August 26th, 2016
A summer school program was held jointly by AUN (ASEAN University Network) and SUN/SixERS (Six Universities Network/International Education & Research System, Japan) in Bangkok, Thailand, from August 15 – 26, 2016. A total of 11 undergraduate students from SixERS member universities (10 from Okayama University and 1 from Chiba University) participated in the program.
The participants took classes at Chulalongkorn University to study the culture, economy and history of ASEAN and Thailand, and visited local offices and branches of Japanese companies and independent administrative institutions, where they exchanged views and opinions on the current status and future prospects with experts who are active on the front lines. They also had various opportunities to interact with local people and study the country’s culture and history – during through study trips to Thai cultural sites, a Thai cooking class, a Muay Thai class, and a batik class.
On the final day of the program, the participants delivered presentations about those activities. With their final reports, they received a completion certificate from Dr. Nantana Gajaseni, Executive Director of the AUN Secretariat. This program, which plays an important role in the development of human resources with a global perspective, is scheduled to be held in 2017 as well.
