SixERS’ First European Office Established in SieboldHuis, Leiden (The Netherlands)

International Education & Research System, (SixERS) in Japan launched its first branch office in Europe, the European Platform of SixERS (EP-SixERS), in the SieboldHuis, Leiden, the Netherlands, on August 1, 2016.

EP-SixERS aims to support the SixERS member universities’ research and education activities in Europe and promote cross-consortium collaborations with leagues of leading universities and institutions in the Netherlands, and then, on an EU regional scale. In addition, the Leiden office will disseminate information on the history of Dutch learning, the origin of SixERS, and the strong academic and cultural relationships between Japan and the Netherlands.

Acting Dean: Atsufumi Yokoi, Okayama University’s Special Advisor to the President /Senior University Global Administrator (UGA) in charge of International and Strategy Affairs
Deputy Director: Yuichi Oda, Professor of Organization for Higher Education Planning, Chiba University

Major activities:
1. Disseminating information concerning academic and cultural ties between Japan and the Netherlands
2. Promoting collaboration and cooperation with the European University Network and allied universities in the Netherlands and the EU
3. Providing support in creating a credit transfer system and joint programs between the EU and ASEAN
4. Collecting information on local universities, etc.
5. Disseminating information on Japan and SixERS member universities to students, faculty and other staff members of local universities, etc.
6. Implementing and operating joint programs by SixERS
